Where to Buy Pokemon Cards in Ireland

Updated June 2026 · 8 min read

If you've tried buying Pokemon cards in Ireland recently, you already know the struggle. You walk into Smyths, the shelf is empty. You check online, everything's sold out. You hear someone grabbed the last ETB five minutes ago. It's genuinely frustrating.

I've been collecting for years and I've learned the hard way which stores actually stock Pokemon TCG, when they tend to restock, and how to actually get there before everything's gone. So here's everything I know — every store, every tip, no fluff.

The Big Retailers

Smyths Toys — The Main One

Let's be honest, Smyths is where most of us go. They have 28 stores across Ireland and 7 in Northern Ireland, and they consistently get the biggest Pokemon TCG allocations. New sets usually drop here on release day, and they tend to restock more frequently than anyone else.

The problem? Everyone knows this, so stock flies. A Prismatic Evolutions ETB might last 20 minutes on the shelf. If you're not checking regularly or don't have alerts set up, you're probably going to miss it.

Tip: Smyths restocks tend to happen early morning or mid-afternoon. Their online stock and in-store stock are separate systems — something can be sold out online but sitting on a shelf in your local store.

Tesco — The Hidden Gem

Most people don't even think about Tesco for Pokemon cards, but they actually stock a decent range of sealed TCG products — booster packs, tins, mini tins, and occasionally ETBs. They have over 100 superstores across Ireland and the prices are competitive.

The catch is that Tesco doesn't advertise their Pokemon stock online. You basically have to walk in and check the toy aisle. Unless you have a way to check their stock remotely (which we'll get to later).

Art N Hobby — 24 Locations

Art N Hobby is brilliant for Pokemon TCG. They're an official Asmodee stockist with 24 stores across Ireland, and they tend to get new releases fairly quickly. Their stores in Dublin (Dundrum, Jervis, Stephens Green) and Cork (Douglas, Ballincollig) are usually well-stocked.

They also carry a wider range than Smyths sometimes — you might find collection boxes or premium products that Smyths doesn't get.

Ken Black — 4 Locations

Ken Black stores in Carlow, Kilkenny, Portlaoise, and Wexford are worth checking. They're a smaller chain but they stock Pokemon TCG and the competition for stock is way less intense than Dublin stores.

Currys — 9 Locations

Currys might seem like an odd one, but several of their Irish stores carry Pokemon TCG. Worth popping in if you're passing — the stock can sit there for longer since most people don't think to check Currys for cards.

The Problem: Everything Sells Out

Here's the reality — knowing where to buy isn't the hard part. The hard part is knowing when stock drops. Popular sets like Prismatic Evolutions, Journey Together, and Mega Evolution sell out within hours, sometimes minutes.

Manually refreshing 30+ websites every day isn't realistic. And walking into stores hoping they've restocked is a gamble that usually doesn't pay off.

How to Actually Catch Restocks

This is why I built PK Tracker — a Discord server that monitors all of these stores automatically and sends you instant alerts the second something restocks. The bot scans every 2 minutes, 24/7.

For free, you get per-store Smyths alerts — you pick your local stores and only get pinged when your store gets stock. No noise from stores on the other side of the country.

If you want alerts for all 30+ stores (including Tesco in-store stock with exact unit counts), there's an Elite tier with a free trial.
